REMINDER: Changes to the Job Retention Scheme

Just a quick reminder that as of yesterday (1 September) the amount available to claim from the government under the Job Retention Scheme (i.e. the ‘furlough’ scheme) reduces to 70%.

Furloughed employees are still entitled to receive 80% of their relevant wages, with the employer contributing the additional 10% (in addition to any employers’ NI and pension due) to achieve that.

From 1 October this drops further to 60% recoverable from the government, with the employer making up the additional 20% (in addition the employers’ NI and pension).

The scheme remains on course to cease on 31 October with flexible furlough remaining available until then.
